Charles Franklin Bourbina, 68, died in his home on June 17, 2013.
He was born on January 7, 1945 to Lawrence and Frances (Sexton) Bourbina of Abilene, KS. He married Carol Ann Roggow on August 21, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Breckinridge, OK.
Charles graduated from Kansas State University in 1968. He is a Vietnam War veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force (1968-1973) while attaining the rank of Captain. Following his service, he worked as an Air Traffic Controller and retired after 27 years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Springfield, MO.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carol of Willard; two sons Matthew Bourbina of Ypsilanti, MI, and Tyson Bourbina and wife Stacey of Springfield; grandsons Ryan and Elijah; sister Marilyn McBride of Alexandria, IN; twin siblings Arthur Bourbina and wife Connie of Independence, KS, and Ardis Witt and husband Pete of Hudson, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 21, from 6 to 8 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The memorial service will be Saturday, June 22, at 10:30AM at Faith Lutheran Church with burial at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the SW Missouri Alzheimer’s Association or Faith Lutheran Church, with Greenlawn North Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
