Charles Christopher Wildschuetz, 89, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at Christian Healthcare East on February 8, 2013. He was born on November 20, 1923 in Independence, Missouri to Frederick and Merle (Risinger) Wildschuetz. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, George; a sister-in-law, Dorothy; and a nephew, Harvey. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Belcher); his children Cheryl Wildschuetz of Springfield; Alan (Pam) Wildschuetz of Little Rock; Gary (Sunday) Wildschuetz of Springfield; Dale Wildschuetz of Dallas; and Shirley (Jerry) Kerns of Springfield. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charles grew up on the family farm in Independence where he graduated from William Chrisman High School. He then received a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri, served in the Navy during WWII, and returned to MU to complete his Masters Degree. He married Joan Belcher on May 20, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for Bendix until 1975 when the family relocated to Springfield where he finished his career with Litton. Charles was a devoted husband and father who volunteered with his church, Campbell United Methodist Church, and his children’s activities.
Funeral services for Charles will be 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Campbell United Methodist Church with burial following at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation will be From 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
