Charles Dean Cook, 72, of Bolivar, Missouri, formerly of Lamar, MO, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 in Springfield, Missouri at Mercy Hospital. He was born April 14, 1938, to Willis and Ruby Mae (Bruner) Cook.
In 1956, he graduated from Walnut Grove High School, and later went on to serve in the United States Army.
He worked as a Utilities Supervisor at City Utilities and after retirement, for Gas Distribution Contractors.
On July 1, 1995 in Lamar, Missouri, he married Carole Raye Wise. Charles loved the outdoors, working in his garden and enjoyed winning at casinos.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby; father, Willis; grandson, Brian; and niece, Karen.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Cook; brother, Kenneth and wife, Ella Cook, of Springfield; son, Kevin Cook and wife, Sheila, of Brighton; daughter, Melissa Cook and Steve Pickering, of Springfield; sons, Shawn and wife, Bobbie, of Van Buren, Ark., Jeremy Cook and Shannon Berry, of Springfield, Mo.; step-children, David Kiger, Mike and Roxy Kerns, Daniel and Carrie Kerns and Greg Kerns; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; four cousins and a nephew.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 10:00 A.M.
