Charles Edwin Reed, 84, of Springfield passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South.
Charles was born June 20, 1927 in Desarc, Missouri to Clarence and Neva Reed. He was a Navy veteran serving his country during WWII. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone as a communication technician after 35 years of service. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church.
Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years Ruth; three children, sons Alan and his wife Robin of Springfield, Brent and his wife Dawn of Farmington and daughter Linda Walker and her husband Ken of Rogersville. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Farmer and Katherine Hollman; six grandchildren Todd Reed, Alan Reed, Eric Reed, Adam Walker, Matthew Reed and Lauren Reed; four great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 5, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East with burial in Holland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
