Christine Lee (Jones) Clopton, 90 of Fair Grove, MO, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at James River Care Center. She was born December 25, 1922, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was born to Bailey King Jones and Ussa Ann (Nelson) Jones. She was preceded in death by her father Bailey at the age of 8. her mother, Ussa, her brother Leslie and her husband Kenton Clopton. She was also preceded by in death by a grandchild, Mark Allen Clopton and two great-grandchildren, Drake Clopton and Gracie Ty Snider.
Christine was married Jan. 1, 1943 to Kenton Howard Clopton in Tahlequah, Ok. They were married 46 years. They made their home in the Fair Grove area until moving to Urbana in 1967. After Kenton passed away she returned to Fair Grove, in 1990.
Christine was a very loving and kind Mother and Grandmother. She was an excellent cook and showered her family with many wonderful meals. She loved to can produce from her garden along with making jelly and relishes for family and friends. She loved to crochet and made dozens of afghans for her family. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her kids. She once said, “I would give my last crumbs to the kids.”
Christine was a wonderful cook and baker and had worked at the Skyline School in Urbana for nearly 10 years. She sold Avon for approximately 20 years and was very successful. She loved to visit with neighbors and deliver Avon. She made homemade cinnamon rolls and donuts which was always shared with family and neighbors. She loved to baby-sit for family and her extended family of friends. She volunteered at Cox North Hospital in Springfield for 10 years. She enjoyed this so much and touched everyone she met with a smile to try and brighten their day.
Christine is survived by her ten children: Joyce and Gary Genetti, Janice Sanders, Marvin and Marlena Clopton, Jim and Lynn Marie Clopton, Judy and Ron Anderson, Gail and Richard Melton, Terry Clopton, Bonnie Greene, Joni and Jim McGuire, and Phillip and Karen Clopton, a brother and sister-in-law, Stuart and Virginia Wheeler, 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn North Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
