Clifford S. Treadway, age 72 of Ava, Missouri passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, while hospitalized following a short-term illness.

Clifford was born to Claude E. Treadway and Mary A. (Reed) Treadway, in Rockwood Tennessee, along with four siblings. He attended school in Tennessee and Illinois, eventually leaving school to join the work force.

Clifford spent most of his life working in construction in Missouri and Florida. In Florida, he worked in commercial construction for Disney Inc. with his relative, Chris Crum, and in Missouri he helped build pole barns. Later, he was self-employed in Ava, Missouri, where he took on odd jobs, cut wood, and did handyman work. In his free time, Cliff enjoyed cookouts, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He loved sharing a cup of coffee and telling a good story. Cliff never met a stranger and was always willing to help others, asking nothing in return. He would even give someone the shoes off his feet if they needed them more.

Clifford was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Claude and Mary; his brother-in-law, Harold; his sister, Carol; and two nephews, Scott Tredway and Tony Vaught. He is survived by his brother, Avery Tredway and wife, Betty, of Ava; his sister, Kathy Brown of Nixa; his sister, Ellen Brown of Springfield and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Clifford leaves behind five children: Clifford Treadway Jr. and Consuela Braden of Illinois, Christopher Defonsey of Kentucky, and Alexia Treadway of Springfield and Tyler Treadway of Ava, Mo. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and more friends and fishing buddies than could ever be counted.

There will be a celebration of life for Clifford at a later date, once arrangements are made by family. Until then, Cliff will be remembered for his easy laugh, love of the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

The family would also like to extend our gratitude to the Doctors, Nursing staff on the Intensive care floor, and the 6th floor of Mercy Hospital.
