Constance “Connie” G. Givens (Payne) died peacefully at home on July the 3rd in Springfield, MO at the age of 70 and now is home in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Connie is survived by her son, Reg Givens and his wife Rhonda and three children, Courtney, Dominick and Nicolas of Lamar, MO, her daughter-in-law Melissa Givens and her children Dakota and Carson of Fountain, CO. Her siblings, Sylvia and Charles Hudson, of Bethel, MO, Susie and Jim Swartz of Morris, IL, Rick Payne of Ft Collins, CO and Joe and Sandy Payne in CA. She is preceded in death by her son Jesse Givens of Fountain, CO, sister Jackie Adamson, brother Andy Payne of Bartlesville, OK as well as her mother Marjorie Clark and father Rusty Payne.
Connie was born on Nov. 29th, 1944 in Muskogee, OK to Rusty Payne and Marjorie Clark and graduated from Neosho High School in Neosho, MO in 1962. After moving to Springfield, Connie began working as a title clerk for Friendly Ford and continued to excel in the car business until finally coming to work at Thompson Sales where she worked for 34 years and finished as the Director of Finance. Connie had two boys, Reg and Jesse. Her children remember her as a selfless and loving mother who encouraged them to be good and kind men and pursue their goals. Connie loved her flowers and often could be found in her backyard nurturing and caring for them. She was a dedicated employee who loved her work and who was passionate about doing things the right way, sometimes that meant her way. She was a member of The Way Faith Community in Springfield, and participated in a regular Community Group from The Way.
A celebration of Connie’s life is tentatively scheduled for July 25th at The Way Church at 903 W Katella St, Springfield, MO 65807. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie’s life. Picnic and Visitation with the Family will begin at 7:30 pm, Celebration to begin at 8:30 pm and Fireworks Display at 9:10 pm.
