Cora Solid Mathis, 77 peacefully left this life to meet our Saviour on November 4, 2018 at Wilson's Creek Nursing Home with her family by her side. Cora fought a graciously long battle of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Cora, the youngest of 5 was born to Herman & Susie (Dewey) Solid on September 27, 1941 in Bertha, MN. Cora graduated from Parkview High School, Springfield, MO in 1959. Cora married (Junior) Ray H. Mathis, Jr. on July 23, 1961 at LaVern's Wedding Chapel in Miami, OK and to this union, 2 very special daughters were born.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Junior, oldest daughter Betty, siblings David Sr., Mary Alice and Mary Lou plus many more family and friends who she is now catching up with in heaven.
Cora is survived by her youngest daughter, Susie (Mike) Wiles of Fair Grove, MO, granddaughter Tabitha (Adam) Blaney of Springfield, MO, grandson Ross (Ysabeau) Taylor of Mt. Vernon, MO, 4 great grandchildren Mason, Eliza, Lindy and Haddy Blaney of Springfield, MO, a brother Charlie Solid of Anderson, IN and a step sister Ellie Suits, Huntsville, AL. Also, her special nieces that were like sisters to her Sue Anderson, Charlene Cermak and Nyla Benson and close friends Kim Crosby & Daniel McMahan and a host of family and friends. Though we mourn the loss of a great woman, we rest assured that she will forever live in our hearts.
Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Wilson's Creek Nursing Home and Regional Hospice for their special love & tender care.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be at Yeakley Chapel with Minister Adam Blaney officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of SW MO, 3161 W. Norton Rd., Springfield, MO 65803 because of her love for animals.
