Coy Weldon Coker was born in Fouke, AR, July 4, 1939, to Elbert and Evie (Clark) Coker. He passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, at his home in Fair Play, MO. He was united in marriage to Anna Sue DeShazo April 24, 1959. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Steven W. Coker; brothers: Norris, Harold and Varner Lane Coker; and a sister in-law Mildred Coker.
He is survived by his wife of 54 1/2 years Anna Sue Coker of the home; a son Robert W. Coker and wife Polly of Blue Springs, MO; two daughters: Kimberlee Coker of Springfield, MO, and Sarah Coker, New York, NY; grandchildren: Nicole Coker, of Blue Springs, MO, Ashley and William Bumgarner of Daytona Beach, FL, Kyle and Lindsey Coker of Blue Springs, MO, and Geofrey and Cory Wall of Blue Springs, MO; great grandchildren: Jourdan and Cody Walker and their father Denver, of Sugar Creek, MO, Owen Barta of Daytona Beach, FL, and Jacob Coker of Blue Springs, MO; brother Edwin Coker and Wilma of Fair Play, MO; sisters: Brenda Green and Horace of Texarkana, AR, Lynda Bunch and Jim of Texarkana, TX; sister and brother in-law Charlene Batterton and Gary of Wheatland, MO; brothers in-law: Dale DeShazo of Kingston, OK, and Joe DeShazo of Viola, AR; sister in-laws: Roxie and Audrey Coker of Fouke, AR; many nieces and nephews that were very special to him.
Coy retired from General Motors in Kansas City, after working there 30 years. He loved to fish and hunt with his brothers and nephews; and just hanging out with them. He loved his family and was always there for them. We will all miss his sense of humor, but we know he is no longer in pain.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO, with Dr. Gary Urich officiating. Burial will be held at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, Lee’s Summit, MO, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at the funeral home.
