Cynthia “Cindy” Cook passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted daughter, husband, and cherished lifelong friend. Cindy lived a life rooted in creativity, compassion, resilience, and deep devotion to those she loved most.
Born in Springfield, Missouri, to Cleo and Harrybill Huffman, Cindy carried with her a spirited love for life from an early age. A proud graduate of Glendale High School’s Class of 1974, she participated in athletics and Camp Fire Girls, forming friendships and memories that remained meaningful throughout her life.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Harrybill Huffman, and her sister, Cheri Hamlin.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Tracy Holdford; her devoted daughter, Kinsey Cook; Tracy’s son Alex and wife Randallyn; and their children, Caleb and Emmy, who brought her great joy. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jeff Hamlin and niece Catherine Hamlin; honorary brother Jim Huffman and his wife Donna; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.
Education and learning were lifelong passions for Cindy. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in CIS-IT Web Development and a Master’s Degree in Education, combining creativity and intellect in everything she pursued. Her professional career reflected her innovation and versatility. She worked with the Springfield-Greene County Library, DialNet, and Wehrenburg Design Company, while also building her own business, Webstream Design Group, as a talented web developer and designer. Cindy also shared her knowledge as an instructor at Missouri State University’s Computer Institute and as adjunct faculty at Ozarks Technical Community College.
Cindy’s talents extended far beyond her professional accomplishments. She was an artist in every sense of the word — gifted in photography and many artistic mediums, with a creative spirit that touched all aspects of her life. She had a deep love for her long-haired chihuahuas and treasured the family’s passion for Missouri State Lady Bears basketball. A founding member of the Missouri State University Fast Break Club, Cindy proudly supported women’s athletics and was honored alongside the organization through induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
Above all, Cindy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She lovingly cared for both of her parents and gave selflessly to the people around her. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her daughter, never missing a basketball game, athletic event, impromptu shopping trip or anything that allowed them to spend time together. One of her most treasured recent memories was a mother-daughter trip to Colorado, with hopes and plans for many more adventures together.
Cindy will be remembered for her intelligence, artistic spirit, wit, loyalty, and unwavering love for family and friends. Her presence brought comfort, strength, laughter, and beauty into the lives of so many, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Mercy Hospital 6A ICU and Seasons Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown during Cindy’s final days.
