Daniel Joseph O’Toole, age 56, of Springfield, MO, passed this earth after succumbing to pancreatic cancer, Sunday, March 15, 2015. Danny graduated from Green Valley State School. He lived his fifty-six years on this earth knowing no enemies, and having all the acquaintances as his friends. Danny was very active with Sporting Chance and Special Olympics. A special Olympic participant with over eighty-two medals and trophies, many which were placement medals from the numerous sports he participated in, a truly remarkable accomplishment for any Olympian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Marrietta F. O’Toole.
He is survived by two brothers, Martin James O’Toole and wife Joy Joplin, MO and Lawrence George O’Toole and wife Margie, Springfield, MO; two sisters, Barbara Ann Dopuch and husband Dan, Brentwood, MO and Ellen Marie Binder, Carthage, MO; three nieces, Annie Yost and husband Jason, Kelly O’Toole, and Sarah O’Toole; one nephew, Christopher O’Toole; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
The family would like to thank the ARC of the Ozarks, DCO, A Sporting Chance, and the Special Olympics for playing an important role in Danny’s life. A special tribute to the staff and management of Easy Living INC., Who was Danny’s extended family, whom he loved as brothers and sisters. Thank you for your help, love, and support, who with the assistance of the Hospice care, helped Danny battle cancer with dignity, surrounded by love in his final days on earth. The O’Toole family will be forever thankful and grateful.
