David (Dave) Arthur Hibi, 64, of Nixa passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 20, 2026, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

David was the first of three sons born to Arthur and Judith Hibi of Chula Visit, California. David completed high school at Chula Vista High and attended Southwestern College.  David moved to Missouri in 1999 and married Robin Eakins on December 4, 1999.

David held many jobs over the years in a diverse number of roles.  From cutting fish at Woo Chee Chong, to working for Pepsi Cola, ACE Parking and Century Partners Real Estate in San Diego, CA.  He finally found his calling as a valued member of the Gold Mountain Communications family where he achieved 10,000 lifetime sales and wanted to obtain 15,000 until his health did not allow him to continue to work.  David was known for his hard work, dedication, and loyalty to his employer.

David was an avid fisherman learning the fish with his grandfather at an early age. If you spent any time with David, you were sure to hear about fishing the San Diego area on the boats with his grandfather and bring home a catch to help feed their family and friends.  After moving to Missouri, David learned to fish freshwater and loved fishing for trout on Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake.  David also loved to spend time at the beach and grew to love an annual trip to Destin, Florida.  David was also a gifted artist and spent many hours in his younger days drawing intricate pictures, including many NFL stars who would eventually autograph his work.  David was also a lover of animals, especially his beloved dogs, Bonsai, Kyo, Taro, Mieko, Kobe and Sasha – and his cat who he named Goofball.

David was a proud and appreciative recipient of double organ transplant in 2022.  His transplant gave him four additional years to live and learned to appreciate the simple things in life.  He was incredibly grateful for the second chance at life and appreciative of the one who was generous in donating so others could live.

David was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as his parents, Arthur and Judith Hibi.  He is survived by his wife, Robin; his brothers Warren Louis and Kurt of Chula Vista, CA; In-laws, Dr. Richard and Mary Eakins, brother-in-law, Shawn Eakins (Debby Halloway); sister-in-law, Janice Eakins; nephews Justin, Brandon and Kyle Eakins, and niece Ashley Eakins.  He is also survived by several Aunties and Uncles – including his Uncle Alan Nitake and Auntie Sharon Aratani who were very supportive in the final months of his life – as well as several cousins.

Cremation services are being provided by Greenlawn Funeral Home East.  A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
