David Dee Tuter, age 63, son of Norman Dee Tuter and Dennis and Grace (Sweeney) Shelley, was born December 1, 1962, in Springfield, MO. He passed away May 1, 2026, at his home in Springfield. David married Denise (Sjule) Tuter on November 8, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother and stepfather, Grace and Dennis, and brother-in-law Chris Barber.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise, of 29 years; one daughter, Danielle (Cary) and Cheston Alexander of Marshfield; two sons and significant others, Braden Tuter and Shelby Roberts, and Ryker Tuter and Jaira Glaser (fiancé) of Springfield; granddaughters, Hallie and Brynn Alexander of Marshfield; his father, Norman Tuter of Fair Grove; two sisters, Deborah (Tuter) Barber and Tim Latham (fiancé) of Springfield, and Jessica (Shelley) and Chris Stapp of Springfield; step-brother, Shannon and Jaz Shelley of Mulberry, Florida; and many other in-laws and nieces and nephews that loved him.
David graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1981. He loved his family. He received the incredible gift of craftsmanship from his father, who helped him build his first home with Denise in 1997. David loved working with his hands, and his signature of excellence was on everything he built. His extreme work ethic and resolve to create something lasting is evident all around his home. He and Denise worked side-by-side on many projects over the years. Together, it was not labor but an intense love for common goals. He recently spent time teaching Braden the art of craftsmanship by completing several necessary home remodels and repairs. He and Ryker shared a love for disc golf and spent lots of time competing on the course. He loved and cherished his sons and was very proud of both of them. He was delighted to gain the role of a father to Danielle when he married Denise. He always considered her as his own and truly adored having a daughter. His granddaughters were loved and well teased by their PePaw.
David worked at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. He was an ultrasonographer for over 30 years and was very passionate about giving the best personal care to each of his patients. He received many accolades for his attention to detail and was instrumental several times to quicken further needed care for more serious diagnoses. One of his most recent awards given at CMH was the Tulip award for excellence. He was nominated by a patient that credits David for saving his life.
As many of you already know, David was an avid Raiders fan, and he proudly wore his Raider apparel in Chiefs’ country with no shame! He bled and sweat black and silver, so feel free to show support in his memory by wearing black and silver at his service.
David was an irreplaceable member of our family, and his memory will always be present at many future gatherings. He was the best at the quick one-liners that brought lots of laughter, and the one often “enlisted” to hang the pictures correctly!
He touched so many lives from family, friends, and even casual acquaintances and will be deeply missed. We know that he is now with his trusted Savior, Jesus, and celebrating his heavenly arrival with his sweet mom. Can’t you just see him marveling at God’s amazing workmanship and detailed perfection on every aspect of his new home.
