David Elmer Jones, 76, of Elkland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2026.  He was born on February 6, 1950, the son of Elmer and Juanita Jones.  David grew up on a dairy farm and attended Elkland and Marshfield schools.  On October 21, 1983, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Crites, and together they shared 42 wonderful years.

Throughout his life, he was a dedicated and hardworking man.  He began his career employed at Banta Fruit Company, before moving on to Associated Wholesale Grocers, where he worked 30 years until his well-earned retirement.  David continued to work for another 20 years at Hurricane Bay car wash in Buffalo.  There, he truly enjoyed talking with people, becoming a familiar face to everyone in the community and was well known as Buffalo’s friendliest guy in town.

David was saved and baptized in 1990 and attended March Assembly of God church for many years.  He deeply loved his Lord Jesus and worked hard to help others come to the Lord.  He loved singing songs from popular Christian singers and going to revivals, especially the tent revivals of Evangelist Dale Begley.

In high school, David enjoyed playing baseball and later on developed a love for softball where he played competitively.  A fun memory during this time, was when his teammates hollered “Mongo loves softball” when he hit home runs.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed supporting and watching his nieces play basketball.  David cherished his time outdoors hunting and fishing, but especially crappie fishing.  He also enjoyed gardening, having chickens, and loving his fur babies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Juanita; his son, Craig Shane; and his foster brother, Jim Taylor.

David is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Jones; his sons, Ricky Crites (Nicole) and Ronnie Crites (Cassandra); his seven grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Mike Jones (Gana) and Danny Jones (Kris); his dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews; and a host of extended family members, former coworkers, and close friends whose lives were touched by his faith and kindness.  He will be deeply missed and though we can no longer see his infectious smile, the love and light he shared will remain in our hearts.

A memorial visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
