David Headlee Highfill, son of Dorsey and Pauline (Headlee) Highfill, was born on Oct. 16, 1942 in St. John’s Hospital. He attended Springfield Schools and graduated from Parkview High School.
David was a proud veteran having served with the U. S. Navy. He married Barbara Altic and to this union, two sons were born, Jeff and Mark. He was preceded in death by Barbara and Mark. He is survived by his sister Judy Bailey (Jim) , son Jeff (Robin), Grandson Chris (Sabrina, and Taylor), grand-daughter: Ashlee ( Scott) great-grandsons: Dayton, Copeland, and Quinn, nephew James, cousin Charlie, friend Greg, and other cousins and friends.
David was a kind man with a big heart and generous spirit. He was independent and worked hard to maintain his farm. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many happy hours teaching Chris and Dayton how to hunt and fish. He enjoyed building, and fixing various things, participating in Civil War reenactments collecting knives and firearms, and even panning for gold in Colorado.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. His body will be cremated and will be buried at Mount Comfort Cemetery at a later date.
