David Lee “Joe” Carroll, age 80 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility Bolivar, MO. He was born May 25, 1943, in Springfield, IL, to David John and Jessie Cecilia (Luster) Carroll. He is a US Army veteran having served from 1961-1963, and was proud to have served in Thule, Greenland, and was aboard a ship headed towards Cuba during the missile crisis.
Joe worked many years installing siding, and later created his own business “Joe Carroll Siding” and took great pride in his workmanship. He was always willing to help someone in need. Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Leroy Brake and Albert Carroll; and three sisters: June Sherry, Sherly Schafer, and Lorraine Sabo.
Joe is survived by his wife Betty of the home; five children: David Carroll, Jr. (Michelle) of Lincoln, MO, Lara Johnson (Stanley) of Buffalo, MO, Jennifer Long (Steve Retherford) of Springfield, MO, Christie Kirby (Jeff) of Humansville, MO, and Misty Stortz (Paul) of Bolivar, MO; 12 grandchildren: Raven, Reba, Trevor, Thomas, Clay, Davey, Nicholas, Jessica, Sean, Michael, Kaitlyn, and Lauren; five great grandchildren; a brother Charles Carroll of Pekin, IL; a sister Pam Sprinkle (Rev. Ed) of Mt. Vernon, IL; a brother in-law James Laird of Bolivar, MO; a sister in-law Mary Carroll of Petersburg, IL; a longtime friend Rod Campbell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Bolivar Family Church: 310 N. Hartford Bolivar, MO, with Pastor Rod Campbell officiating.
