David Lee Dixon, age 68, of Fair Grove, MO, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011. He was born September 4, 1942, in Irish Wilderness, MO, to Walter and Lula (Hurt) Dixon.
David retired from Builders Rebar and served in the U.S. Army. David loved camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for S.D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lula Dixon; five brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by his, wife Barbara Anne Dixon of Fair Grove, MO; five children, Ronnie Dixon and fiancee Tammy Overton of Springfield; Ginny Highfill and husband Eugene of Fair Grove, MO; DeeDee Haege and husband Richard of Lake City, FL; Darla Edmonson and fiancee Billy Woods of Springfield; David D. Dixon of Fair Grove, MO; nine grandchildren; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2011, in Fair Grove High School Gym with Rev. Tom Dykes officiating. Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2011 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans or Fair Grove Soccer Academy. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
