David Ray Corkren, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, died Monday night, August 17, 2020, at his home. David Ray Corkren, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, died Monday night, August 17, 2020, at his home. Born October 17, 1938, in Winfield, Alabama, he was the son of the late Emmit O’Neal Senior and Agnes (Phillips) Corkren.
David worked at Kitty Clover Potato Chips in Springfield, MO, for many years and later for Zenith until it closed in 1994. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. He was always lending a hand to work on a car for someone in the family. He also enjoyed shopping at flea markets and garage sales. He also loved deer hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 35 years Virginia Lee; older brother Emmit O’Neal Corkren Junior; grandson-in-law Javen Mitchell; stepchildren Wanda Juleen Trogdon and Kevin Wade. He is survived by his son Randy Corkren and wife Bonnie in Springfield, MO; daughter Letia Sanders (Corkren) in Nixa, MO; son Scott Corkren of the home; stepson David Trogdon and wife Carol in Strafford, MO; stepdaughter Brenda James (Trogdon) and husband Richard in Bois D’arc, MO; stepson Eddie Trogdon in Springfield, MO; stepdaughter Tammy Wade in Springfield, MO; and adopted son Shane Corkren and partner Dennis in Turner, MO. Also, grandchildren Joshua Corkren; Lindsey Marshall (Corkren) and wife Rachel; Ashley Mitchell (Sanders); Nicholas Corkren; Chandler Corkren; Jeff Trogdon; Jason Trogdon and wife Beth; Jeremiah James; Jana James; Zackary Wade; several great-grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family including his “running buddy” Rose McCormick (Underwood), Travis Burns and wife Barbara, Dorothy Hamilton, Ron Hamilton, Sharon Corkren (Hamilton) and Samantha Hicks.
Visitation services for David Ray will be held at 11:00 AM til 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 East Seminole, Springfield, MO. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 5234 West State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO.
