In Loving Memory of David Roy Sherrod
It is with deep sorrow and great love that we announce the passing of David Roy Sherrod, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on
June 28th, 2025 in Springfield Missouri, at the age of 75. David was born
November 15th, 1949 in Saint Joseph Missouri. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City metro before retiring in Branson Missouri.
David was a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. He lived his life with purpose, humility, and a steadfast devotion to his family and community. Those who knew him were touched by his warm smile, supportive nature, and calm wisdom. He never met a stranger and always had time for others.
A lifelong learner and passionate reader, David was rarely seen without a book in hand. He believed in the power of knowledge and curiosity and passed that love of learning on to those around him.
David proudly served in the Army National Guard and was deeply committed to the values of leadership and service. David was involved in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and remained actively involved in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where he mentored and inspired younger generations. As a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge, David upheld the principles of brotherhood, integrity, and community service throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Evelyn Sherrod, brother, Robert Sherrod Jr and son-in-law, Gary Walker. He is survived by his wife, Connie Sherrod, his daughters, Renee Walker and Shannon Wadsworth and husband James, son, Michael Sherrod, grandson, Kaleb Wadsworth and great-grandson Kyzer Wadsworth — each of whom was a source of pride and joy in his life. His legacy of compassion, honesty, and strong moral character will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Boy Scouts of America Tribe of Mic-o-say, memo line Endowment Fund David Sherrod,
10210 Holmes Road Kansas City MO 64131, in honor of David’s life of service and generosity.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are forever grateful for the years we shared with David Roy Sherrod. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
