David Steven Metzger, age 53, of Springfield, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Mercy Hospital . He was born September 12, 1961, in Hastings, NE, to Carolyn (Erwin) and Walter Metzger. David had worked for Greenlawn Memorial Gardens for thirty-three years. David loved to read, watch Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune, cooking, and old country and classic rock music. The three great passions of his life were NASCAR Racing, taking care of animals, and his family.
He is survived by his, mother,Carolyn Metzger, Springfield; father, Walter Metzger, Springfield; two sisters Kim Luther, Springfield and Tami Parsons and Nick Cox, Springfield; one niece, Gretchen Ruffa, Springfield; two uncles, Bob and Loren Erwin, and their families; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2015, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Don Stevens officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the SAAFhouse Spay-Neuter Clinic 1600 N Washington Ave, Springfield, MO. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
