David Wayne Stafford was born at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on March 13, 1973 to Howard and Wanda (Grayham) Stafford. David passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2026.
David lived in Springfield all his life. He graduated from Central High School and attended Southwest Baptist College.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Wanda Stafford. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tammy Stafford; children, Brandon Krebs, Hanna and Zach Cook, Kayle Stafford, and Kevin Stafford; one beautiful grandson, Waldon Cook; sisters, Pam Hollan, Sharon and Ryan Letterman; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was the kind of man who always put his family first. He was an incredible husband, father, and had just begun his new favorite role, grandpa. The love he had for all of us was endless, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to make sure we were all taken care of. He was a true outdoorsman. He loved to be in the deer woods, and for whatever the reason, the deer loved him. He had some sort of magic natural scent that drew them in–we think. He also loved firing up the grill. Anyone who was lucky enough to sit at his table knows his BBQ ribs were his favorite thing to make. But the meal wasn’t just about the ribs or the sides that came along with it. It was about bringing the people he loved most together.
Even though the ache of losing him is immeasurable, we have so much gratitude for the years, memories, laughter, and unconditional love he gave us. Thank you, David, for everything you gave to your family and friends. You will be carried in our hearts forever.
David’s service will be at Greenlawn North, 3506 N. National, Springfield, Missouri on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. with the service followings at 1:00 p.m.
