Defaughn Joyce “Bonnie” Clay, age 83 of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South. She was born June 12, 1929, in Monette, AR, to William and Mamie (Pickett) Walton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Alvin Clay; son Dennis William Clay; and her grandson Dennis William Clay II; three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Johns and her husband Les of Ozark, MO; her son, Michael Edward Clay and his wife Yvonne of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Kimberly Deanne Oliver, Nicholas Michael Clay, Scott Wayne Johns, Randy Lee Johns, Jacklyn Kay Miller, Jodie Beth Holmes, Shellie Jo Johns, and Thomas Michael Johns; and 11 great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law: Paula Clay.
She had a full life as a minister’s wife. She enjoyed ministering through singing gospel music with friends and family. She was also a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO. Burial will be held in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
