In loving memory of Della Doreen Anderson, who peacefully departed this world on the first day of spring. Della was a beacon of love and warmth, a devoted mother, and an extraordinary quilter whose hands wove tales of love and comfort into every stitch.
Della was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and later made Springfield her home. She pursued her education with fervor, earning her undergraduate degree from Southwest Missouri State University and later mastering the realm of computer science. Della dedicated many years of her life as a computer programmer at American National Property and Casualty, leaving a mark of excellence and professionalism in her wake.
Her true passion, however, lay in the art of quilting. With each quilt she meticulously crafted, Della poured not just her skill but also her boundless love and compassion. Her quilts were more than just blankets; they were tokens of affection and symbols of her unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Della’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and enduring friendships will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Walter Saunders and Florence Saunders. Della leaves behind her beloved son, Terry Anderson Jr., and her cherished sisters, Brenda Hartwell (Tyler) and Patricia Morris (William). She will also be remembered fondly by her nieces, nephew, extended family Nicole Kaufman (Brian) and Ava Kaufman, and a multitude of friends whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit.
In honoring Della’s memory, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. For those who wish to pay tribute to her, donations in her name to the ALS Association would be deeply appreciated. Contributions can be made online on the ALS Association’s website.
Though Della may no longer be with us in person, her love will continue to shine through the warmth of the countless quilts she gifted and the memories she created. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared.
