Dennis Lee Doolittle, 69, was born to John and Kathern Doolittle on September 5, 1946. He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on September 25, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loved ones, after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Dennis served his country for six years in the United States Army reserves and worked at Dayco for 9 1/2 years before going on to be a heavy equipment operator. Anytime the church doors were open, he was there ready to serve in any way he could. Whether it be the senior group, deacon of his church or just being a friend to pray with. Dennis was a member of Battlefield Assembly of God. His hobbies included, working outside, being quite the handy man, tending to his chickens, fishing, but most of all, helping to care for his three great grandchildren everyday. For those that knew him he always made you laugh with his great personality and sense of humor. But his greatest joy, was being a husband, Dad and Poppy to his family.
He is survived by the love of his life of almost 49 years; Peggy; three children, Lisa Folenius and husband David, Denise Salchow and significant other Les Hankey and David Doolittle and significant other Patti Berenson; four grandchildren, Ashlee Clifton and husband Heath, Colby Backus and husband Jed, Katie Salchow and Austin Wasson; 3 great grandchildren, Mason, Brady and Ella; countless cousins; extended family; and close family friend, Clifford Bumgardner.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister; Reka, and great grandson; Wesley.
Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Greenlawn East. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. Chip Woodall, Shannon Russell, NP, the staff of Cox South Oncology Unit, Step Down Unit and Regional Hospice for their tremendous care and compassion shown to Dennis and family the past 4 weeks.
