My father was Dillard’s youngest half brother. Their mother Clella died when my father was months old and Dillard a young teen. Their Grandmother Dora Moody & Aunt Rosie Moody were their primary care givers for quite some time. My Daddy spoke of Dillard often. I remember Dillard always called my Dad on his birthday & we always got Christmas cards from he & Margaret. I knew he had a large family & he lived in Springfield. My father died at the age of 46, in 1982. Dillard & Margaret always answered ALL my letters in regards to family genealogy. Margaret once wrote that Billy ( my Dad) rode his pony to their home in Mansfield with a dozen eggs so that she might bake him a birthday cake for his 7th bday. I never met Margaret but I finally met Dillard in person a few years ago. I saw so much of my own father’s humor & kindness in his smile. We had a wonderful visit . It was as if I’d known him my entire life. I was really hoping to get he and one of his cousins together here next week. I will forever regret waiting. You were all blessed with a wonderful man to call Dad & Grandfather.

My grandpa was Henry, Dillard’s roommate. Dillard became a dear friend to me and I spent many nights talking to him in the room after my grandpa would fall asleep in the room. He is such a sweet and special man. So sorry for your loss.
