Dixie L. Brown of Springfield passed away peacefully March 24, 2023 with her daughters by her side.
Dixie was born June 26, 1935, and was raised on her family’s farm near Stoutland, Missouri. She is the oldest of seven children. Her Father and Mother were Clyde and Flora Offutt. She graduated from Stoutland High School and on her 18th birthday, she married her high school sweetheart Jim and they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.
Dixie and Jim moved for a few years to Fullerton, California where she worked for Bridgford Foods then returned to live in Springfield in 1965.
Dixie was an active member of Second Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She volunteered for many activities at the church such as Sunday school teacher, GA leader, she loved children and worked in the nursery, helped with Vacation Bible School and many other activities.
She enjoyed caring for her family, loved to cook and have her family over for all holidays and birthdays.
Dixie enjoyed camping and traveling around the United States. She was also a member of Treasure Lake in Branson. She and Jim spent many weeks at Treasure Lake and especially loved taking their Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren with them each year.
Dixie’s survivors include her children Anita and Nancy and their spouses Randall Moots and Kelly Mills; Grandchildren Laura Holmes, Brian Moots, Chad Moots, Katie Spencer, and Thomas Mills; Great Grandchildren Alexandra, Anna, Asher, Abby, Emma, Sophie, Lily, Rylee, Charlotte, Olivia, Kolby and Owen; Great, Great Grandchildren Aiden and Atlas, her brothers Paul, John, Steve and her sister Janice as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband James Brown, father and mother Clyde and Flora Offutt and brothers David and Joseph.
The memorial service will be held March 30th, 2023, at Second Baptist Church, 3111 E. Battlefield St. Springfield, MO 65804 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be prior to the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Graveside service following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3600 N. National, Springfield, MO 65803.
We would like to thank all the caring people at Lakewood Assisted Living for their loving care of our mother these last few months. We would also like to thank Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care they gave our mother. A special thank you to Alecia, Ramona and Wayne at Lakewood and her nurse Melissa with Seasons Hospice.
