Dolis Marie Smith, age 90, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Christian Health Care East. She was born August 27, 1921, in St. Francis, AR, to Ed and Blanche (Posgrove) Henderson. She was a member of the Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, MO. She lived her life for God and her family, and continued to witness up until her prayers were answered, and her work here on earth was complete.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph “Tommy” W. Smith; four brothers, three sisters, and one nephew.
She is survived by five children: Betty S. Stark of Springfield, MO, Emily Ann Smith of McKinney, TX, Robert A. Smith and his wife Charlotte of McKinney, TX, Robert E. Henderson and his wife Karen of Clever, MO, Melody R. Cummings and her husband Morris of Memphis, TN; one sister Lois Hollingsworth of Spanish Fort, AL; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great-grandson; five nephews and three nieces; as well as other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Hall Cemetery St. Francis, AR, with Byron Langley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association: 1 Billy Graham Parkway Charlotte, NC 28201.
