Don Allen Whitlock, of Pleasant Hope, passed away on September 19, 2024, at his home. Don was born to Thomas Clay Whitlock and Harriet Rebecca Stradter on February 28, 1953, in Springfield, Missouri. He was raised in Ebenezer and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1971.
Don was employed as a truck driver with Hiland Dairy for 40 years. When not working, he had many interests and pastimes including stained glass, hunting, carpentry, steam engines, hit and miss motors, Harley Davidson motorcycles, antique and classic cars, and collecting interesting items. Nothing, however, brought him more fulfillment than trading and swapping. Don will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and selflessness. Don was often described by others as generous, helpful, caring, and honest. Don’s impact and contribution to the Ebenezer Community will live on in the memory of those whom he brought together. Don’s ownership of “The Shop” in Ebenezer became a focal point for many in the community to join together for friendly meetings and many events.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Clay Whitlock; mother, Harriet Rebecca Whitlock; and brother, John Thomas Whitlock. He is survived by his son, Caliber Rain Whitlock and daughter-in-law Jessica L. Whitlock; grandchildren: Malakyy K. Hilton, Skyy L. Hilton, Carter Rain Whitlock, sister, Tulena (TJ) Tosh; sister, Edith Kay Field; brother, Jeff Whitlock; and brother, Max Whitlock.
A visitation for Don will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A funeral service for Don will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery in North Springfield.
Following the graveside service, a celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Ebenezer Community Center in Ebenezer Missouri, courtesy of the Ebenezer Historical Society.
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
