Don Jay Wallis, age 76, passed into the arms of heavenly angels on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri.
Don was born on November 1, 1936 in Willard, Missouri to Elmer and Mabel (Bigbee) Wallis. He attended Willard schools and his senior year graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Missouri.
He is survived by Nancy, his beloved wife of 56 years. He was a proud and loving father to Dan and wife Cindy, Doug, Don II and wife Teresa. His grandchildren were “the apples of his eye” – Matthew, Melissa and husband Michael Fuller, Riley and Alex Wallis. Don leaves extended family and friends in Missouri, Michigan, Nevada, other states and in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Mabel Wallis, a sister Helen (Wallis) Cantwell, a brother Robin Wallis, and his cherished daughter Terri Lynne and grandson David.
He honorably served his country for 23 years in the Air Force and the Army. He was deployed to Korea and Vietnam. Don spent several years in Germany with his family and was assigned to several bases in the states.
Following his retirement he worked at United Health Pharmacy and Highland Springs.
Don was a member of Gate of the Temple Lodge 422, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, Elks Lodge 409, VFW Post 3404, Vietnam War Memorial Post 639 and American Legion Post 125, all in Springfield.
To his many friends, your memories of Don will be of a true and caring friend with a story to tell and the sound of laughter.

Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. and graveside services at Clear Creek Cemetery on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
