Don Kevin Gaines, age 48, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, in Springfield of cardiac arrest.
He was born in Glenwood Springs, CO, May 13, 1965. He was the son of Patty (McSpadden) Satow and David Gaines. Don graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield.
Don was a loving and generous person with a ready laugh and a smile for everyone. He loved motorcycles and had an exceptional mechanical ability. Heaven will have the best-maintained lawns now and the cars will all run perfectly. He was an adored father, son, brother and friend.
Don is survived by his son, Kevin Gaines and his wife Liz of Springfield; granddaughter, Mattisen Gaines; his parents, Patty Satow of Springfield and David Gaines of St. George, UT; brothers, Greg Gaines and his wife Kathryn of Springfield and Mark Gaines and his wife Brittany of Eldon, MO; nephew, Sean Gaines; cousin and close friend, Patrick McSpadden; brother-in-spirit, Mark Waterson; stepsons, Shawn Gaines, Jason Abram and Eric Abram; uncle, Tom McSpadden; stepchildren and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett, Springfield, with Fr. Fergus Monaghan officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service. Don will be laid to rest with his grandmother, Clara McSpadden, in a private burial service with the family at a later date. Services by Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
