Donna D. Berry Box age 83 of Springfield MO was called into Heaven October 13th 2021. Donna was the youngest of three sisters in her family. Beatrice, Barbara and Donna were very close. She loved to tease her sisters and could be found giggling and laughing much of the time. There are many stories of milking cows, the 80 acre farm outside of Greenfield, Mo she grew up on, tending the garden and her childhood dogs Wilkey and Tiny. From a young age Donna loved Jesus and remained a Christian throughout her life.
When she was a young woman she would hop in the car and take her young nieces Verna, Lila and Sharon to the Butler Mo square to ride around. They held a special place in her heart. Her favorite job was at the Dairy King in Butler Mo. She would even spend some of her days off there. One memorable story she often told was when she accidentally deep fried her lipstick. When Donna met Afton she knew he was the one for her. They married May 9th 1970. From this union she welcomed into her heart Mary Lynn her stepdaughter. Soon the family grew with the birth of their daughter Candi.
Donna decided to be a stay at home Mom until Candi entered high school. She enjoyed working in a floral shop, Revelation book stores and Osco Drug. She was loved by all her co-workers and employers, they all looked forward to her smile and hugs. After retirement, she spent time with family. She is well known for her milkshakes and pancakes. There were also many family vacations and her and Afton cruised the Cayman Islands. Every Saturday morning she would get her hair done by Susie, then her and Afton would go to dinner and out to Luttrells Music Barn.
Donna was a wonderful wife, amazing mother and a great sister. Her family was her world. She was a prayer warrior with a tender heart. Donna is so very loved and is already missed.
Donna is survived by her husband of 51 years, Herbert “Afton” Box. Donna leaves behind one daughter, Candi Ward and husband David, one stepdaughter Mary Lynn Hedgpeth and husband Rick all of Springfield, one grandson Jared Ward, four granddaughters, Danielle Ward, Alicia Ragsdale and husband Blair, Kim Minkler and husband Tim, and Lacey Coop. Six great-grandchildren: Issac Minkler, Finley Minkler, Abby Minkler, Hannah Minkler, Jessi Hardney and husband Teddy and Katie Ragsdale. Surviving nieces and nephews: Sharon Tracy, Michelle Schroeder, Steve Yost and Ronnie Hall.
