DONNA MAE (ROEDGER) CAMERON
Born: October 11, 1930, in Collinsville, IL.
Died: November 14, 2023
Married to Stanley A. Cameron on May 30, 1951, in Collinsville, IL.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank, and Bernice Roedger; husband, Stan Cameron; and brother Earl
Roedger.
She is survived by her children, Linda Cameron, Terri Cameron; grandchild Rich (Brandi) Pope great grandchildren, Cameron (Riley) Pope, Dalee Pope, and Jackson Pope; sister, Nona Steiner; special family friend Debbie Westfall Punzell (aka the favorite daughter); many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donna has been a member of the Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church since 1964.
She worked as a clerical assistant at Frisco Railroad in St. Louis, MO, where she met her husband of forty-three years. After her children were born, she became a domestic engineer, and was extremely good at it.
She enjoyed working in her yard and garden; vegetables, beautiful flowers, and plants were the result of all her hard work. You could often find her mowing the grass twice a week on her riding lawn mower until she was in her late eighties.
Donna was known for her sense of humor and orneriness. She would often play practical jokes on her family. One would never know what gift they would receive at Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. You could count on numerous outside and inside decorations making for a winter wonderland.
She began making homemade candy for the church bazaar and continued by popular demand.
Homemade pies were another one of her accomplishments; she pleased many folks with a pie for their
birthday each year.
Her seamstress abilities were amazing; she made everything from Barbie doll clothes, the girls’ and her own clothes to a sport jacket for Stan. She even taught her love of sewing to one of her daughters; the other one could sew but was not a fan.
She may not even know about the highest compliment she ever received. Per Rich, she was the best Granny in the whole wide world.
A special heartfelt thanks goes out to Good Shepherd Hospice and Maranatha Village. The nurses and staff loved her and made her stay there easier for her.
Memorial and donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the donor’s choice. Possible suggestions would be Good Shepard Hospice, Cancer Society, Alzheimer Association, American Diabetes Association, or Maranatha Village.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. before funeral services.
