Doris Lorraine Cowdrey 92, Springfield, MO.passed away Monday, August 24, 2020, at Strafford Care Center, after a long illness. She was born to William Edward and Lena G. (Boaz) Black, on January 20, 1928, in Natomas, California. She was very active in her church, The Church of God. She was a homemaker and she once owned her own ceramics shop, owning molds and kilns and she taught many ceramic classes as well as teaching oil painting over the years. She also loved knitting, crocheting, and flower gardening and at one time, she was a tester for The Perkins Rose Company. At one time she was a salesperson for Sarah Coventry Jewelry.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, of 63 years, Rev. Walter Cowdrey, and her eight siblings. She is survived by her three children: her daughters: Donnita Killingsworth and Teri Boyd and her husband Mike, and her son: Timothy Cowdrey and his wife, Julie, two sisters: Carol Barbee and her husband, Wes, and Margarette Hoven, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2020, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No visitation or viewing is planned.
