Doris Cook Gideon passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Ozark, Missouri, leaving behind a lifetime of love, memories, and quiet devotion to her family and community. She was born on September 13, 1936, in Taneyville, Missouri, to Ross E. Cook and Mabel A. Johnson Cook. Doris spent most of her life in the Taney and Christian County areas of Missouri, where she built lasting friendships and deep roots.

Doris lived a life marked by devotion, and quiet strength. She had a gentle way of caring for others and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around her. Her kindness, patience, and generous heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Throughout her life, Doris gave her time and talents in many meaningful ways. She occasionally worked outside the home, including a short time as a bookkeeper at Chadwick Sawmill, owned and operated by Robert Uhlmann. She later worked in Springfield as a pharmacy technician at Medicare Pharmacy for Robert Spotswood, where her dependable nature and care for others were evident in her work.

Doris found joy in being part of her community. In her earlier years, she served as a leader in the Chadwick 4-H Club and was a longtime member of the Chadwick Extension Club. She treasured the fellowship of the Ladies Quilting Circle, which met each Monday morning, and many of her favorite stories came from the friendships and conversations shared there.

Doris also had a deep love for family history. She enjoyed tracing her genealogy and helping the Taney County Genealogy Society catalog and enter local family history records. She took special pleasure in corresponding with people from other states, helping them discover their Taney County roots and connecting families to the stories of those who came before them.

Doris first married Jesse P. Lambeth, with whom she shared 23 wonderful years and welcomed two children before his passing in 1977. She later married Dale F. Gideon, and together they enjoyed 17 joyful years before his death in 1995. Through both seasons of life, Doris carried love, resilience, and grace.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Morris and husband, Doyal, of Chadwick; her son, Michael Lambeth, of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jeremy Lambeth and his wife, Anastasia, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Justin Lambeth of San Diego, California, and Jennavieve Lambeth of Starkville, Mississippi; also one great-granddaughter Jade Lambeth, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her sister, Kay Wright of Rich Hill, Missouri; her nephew, Bob Black, and his wife, Debra, of Rich Hill, Missouri; her niece, Joy Ervin, and her husband, Mark, of Devon, Kansas.

Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, and family devotion. Those who knew her will cherish the stories she shared, the kindness she offered, and the many ways she made life sweeter for the people around her.

Under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, a graveside service will be held at Chadwick Cemetery on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rick Jones.
