Doris V. Cox, age 74, of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011. She was born June 7, 1936 in Gainesville, MO to Clyde and Agnes (Blacksher) Smith. Doris was married to Harold D. Cox on June 2, 1957 at First General Baptist Church.
Doris worked at the Assemblies of God Gospel Publishing House for twenty-seven years, in order processing, retiring in 2001. Doris was a spiritual woman with a heart of gold who never met a stranger. She was a devoted wife, mother, and proud grandmother who loved her family and her God.
Doris is survived by her husband of 53 years Harold; children Cathy Callahan and her husband Eric, Patty Murray, and Brad Cox and his wife Sandy; brother Don Smith and wife Donna; grandchildren Debra Price, Clayton and Jessica Morelock, Heather and Josh Lewis, Dylan Murray, Jason and Crystal Callahan, Missy and Jeff Raper; and great-grandchildren Amanda and Rebecca Raper and Kaeley Morelock; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Services are planned for Thursday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn East Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday, May 11 from 6-8 p.m. Honorary contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or First General Baptist Church.
