Dorothy was my inspiration. She helped me to be a better person by guiding me in my journey through painting. I eventually got my art degree in 2017 at 63 at MSU and her guiding me through my creativity in painting is all that got my through PTSD. I loved that woman for her kindness, encouragement, and inspiration. Blessings to the family and remember GOD sent her to us for a reason. My sincere condolences.

I am a painter that has never met Dorothy, but I loved her work. She left quite a beautiful legacy through her painting and also her classes, patterns, and books. Your video tribute was beautiful, as it allowed us to see her not only in the element that we knew her - her painting world - but also with family and friends. What a beautiful life and family she had! My deepest condolences to her friends and family. She will be sorely missed and was loved by all.

Dorothy was one of my favorite artists and teachers, one I loved to learn from. I painted a few of her designs and actually taught some in my studio. She was deeply loved and highly respected by her many friends and fellow artists around the world. Rest in peace, dear Dorothy. Your memory lives on.

When I saw Dorothy's name in today's paper, I thought it sounded familiar, and after reading about her, I remembered. I visited her art store in Republic back in the 1970s, early 80s. It was her books that got me into tole painting, a hobby which I loved, although I haven't painted in years. Many people have my painted saws and other painted items, and canvases in their homes today because of what I learned from her. I was just thinking about that store a few weeks ago when I visited Republic and remarked to a friend that I hadn't been there in years, but I use to shop at an art store there. So sorry for your loss. The 2 saws are from my Ozark County Dragons series
