Dorothy Jean (Wilson) Hyles passed peacefully into Glory on October 22, 2010 with her daughters at her side.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Truett M. Hyles; her parents, Onus and Edna Wilson; and brother, Donald Joe Wilson.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly McKibban and husband Bill, Wichita, Kan., Theresa Watson and husband Steve, Corinth, Miss., and Patricia Sherman and husband Alan (preceded in death on August 3, 2010), Springfield, Mo.
Dorothy’s grandchildren loved her dearly and are: Stephanie, Laurie, and Isaac, Wichita, Kan., Jeff and Kelly, Corinth, Miss., Shanon and Shane, Las Vegas, Nev. Dorothy had eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tannah, Ryan, Alyssa, and another Alyssa, Jaden, Wesley and Austin. Also survived by her dearest friend and cousin, Mary Walls, Springfield, Mo.
Dorothy was born in 1935 and raised in Springfield, Mo., but moved with her husband Truett to Wichita, Kan., to raise their children, where Truett worked for Boeing for over 30 years.
Dorothy and Truett both served God faithfully many years at Parkview Southern Baptist and Southwest Baptist Church in Wichita, Kan. Dorothy was a beautiful pianist, organist, vocalist, and choir director. She loved music and the comfort and joy it brought to so many people. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker with many talents, and also gave her gift of the piano to many students every day after school. When her children left home, Dorothy had a successful career in real estate and loved meeting new people.
Dorothy and Truett retired in 1990 and moved back to Springfield, Mo., where they spent many more happy years together serving in their church, National Heights Baptist, and traveling together.
Dorothy and Truett had lifelong friends all the way from high school to the fall of their lives. The family was blessed to have parents and grandparents who loved each other so faithfully and dearly and rejoices that Dorothy and Truett are reunited together forever with their heavenly Father.
Visitation will be open to all, Sunday, October 24, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 25th, at 2 p.m., in Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th Street South (47th and Hoover Rd), Wichita, Kan.
