Dorothy Jessie Lee Trogdon, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born May 28, 1935, in Hurley, Missouri, to Emma and Willis Sypolt.

Dorothy’s family moved to Springfield when she was very young. As one of many children, Dorothy stayed home and helped care for and raise her six siblings. Her caring nature continued throughout her life, as she found great joy in taking care of others.

Dorothy worked as a nurse aide at Cox North Hospital for approximately 20 years. She later became a member of the Visiting Nurses Association of Greene County, where she continued doing what she loved most, caring for people and making a difference in their lives.

Outside of work, Dorothy loved spending time at the Senior Citizens Center at Doling Park, where she eagerly participated in the many activities offered. Dorothy was a familiar and much-loved presence there and could often be counted on to be in attendance. Her involvement even led to her picture being featured in the newspaper on one occasion. She also enjoyed volunteering and helping serve others whenever she could.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Trogdon; her parents, Emma and Willis Sypolt; her brother, Alvie Sypolt; her sisters, Elizabeth “Shorty” Brayden, Betty Perryman, Freda Blair, and Zelma; her son, Larry Trogdon; and her granddaughter, Tonya Morris.

She is survived by her children Jessie Lawson, Deborah and her husband, Mitchel Hall, and Darrell Trogdon; her grandchildren, Kevin, Trista, Angel, Angela, Vernon, and Paige; her great-grandchildren, Haley, James, Jermey, Kylie, and Alastar; and her great-great-grandchild, Naimo, her sister, Mildred Mitchel; She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish the memories they made with her.

Dorothy will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to helping others, and her love of being surrounded by people. Her kindness and the many lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
