Dorothy Juanita Compton, age 67, of Springfield, Mo, passed away on February 16, 2016 in Cox South Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1948 to James E. and Bobbie Lee (Russell) McKinney in Greene County Missouri. She attended Central High School. She married Gus Compton on June 14, 1969 in her mother’s home. Dorothy worked for Bass Pro for 20 years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her father-in-law. She is survived by her husband, Gus Compton, her children, Paul Compton, Shawna Ince and Melissa Westmorland and her husband Jerry, four grandchildren Alishia, Danille and Miranda Russell and Sasha Carter, her great-grandchildren, Lacie and Leanna Woods, Emily N. James and one on the way, baby Hager. Also surviving is her brothers, James E. McKinney and his wife Cindy and Raymond McKinney, her sisters, Ada Chamless and her husband Joe and Hazel Gardner and husband Dan, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial following in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
