Dorothy l. Shisler, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Springfield on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, with family members present.
Dorothy Louise Hildebrand was born on April 26, 1926, to Arnold G. and Celia M.(Migura) Hildebrand at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She spent her childhood in Cheyenne, Wyoming, from ages 1 to 14, then moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and graduated Lebanon High School with the class of 1944. She married Kenneth Charles Hillme on her birthday in that year and was welcomed into the Hillme family.
To this marriage were born two sons, Ronald Lee and Kenneth Dwayne. Dorothy and her family made their home in Lebanon and spent much time at the Hillme farm in Laclede County and enjoyed summer weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks. Kenneth managed the Perrey’s Firestone Store untill he and Dorothy bought Scarborough Floral Shop in Lebanon in 1960, which they operated untill his death in October 1966.
The following year, Dorothy and her sons moved to springfield so the sons could attend and graduate SMS. Dorothy worked for 23 years at Katz Drugstore as it progressed to Skaggs and then Osco, retiring in 1991.
She met Ivan Dale Shisler in 1972, and they were married May 20, 1973, after her sons returned from military sewrvice.
Dorothy and Ivan enjoyed many years together making their home in Springfield, traveling, and spending time at the family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks with her sons and their families. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Kenneth Hillme, a sister, Florine Jackson, of the state of Illinois, and a grandson, Scott Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Ivan, of the home; a sister, Mary Perazzo, of the state of New York; son Ron and his wife, Marilyn; son Dwayne and his wife Twila; grandson Shane Taylor; Granddaughter Renee Carroll and her husband,Ben; grandson Patrick Hillme and his wife, Adriene; as well as 8 great grandchildren; all of Springfield.
Dorothy’s wishes were for a simple graveside service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, on Monday, December `16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Greenlawn North Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.
