Dorothy Louise (Hutchison) Hawkins died on February 16, 2011. She was a resident of Magnolia Square.
Dorothy was born April 19, 1923 in Springfield, Mo. She graduated from Senior High School (now Central High) with the class of 1940.
On April 18, 1940 Dorothy married Archie Glen Hawkins. They were happily married for 49 years. Dorothy and Archie had two children, Norma Webb and Thomas Hawkins, both of Springfield, Mo.
Dorothy was employed with St. Johns Hospital, Sprinfield, Mo., and in the 1970’s Archie and Dorothy moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she was employed at General Motors.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Teamsters Local 245 Retirees Club and the 100% Grandmother’s Club where she played the ‘vase’ in the band. She was a long time member of College Street Baptist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Rose (Jackson) and Alex Hutchison, and her husband, Archie Glen Hawkins. Surivivors include daughter, Norma Webb and husband Tom; and her son, Thomas E. Hawkins and wife Cathy, of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Leonard Hutchison and Lucy, of Lubbock, Texas, and Don Buffenbarger and Shirley, of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Pamela Gordon Godfrey, Bruce Gordon, Jennifer Williams and Hannah Cable; five great-grandchildren, Robert Godfrey, Sarah Gordon, Jesse Brown, Jackson Brown, and Christopher Gordon; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m., on Saturday, February 19th, in Greenlawn Funeral Chapel North. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, February 18th, in the funeral home.
