Dorothy Mae (Donovan) Ford, of Ozark Mo, went home to be with Jesus on December 21, 2010, at 11:47 a.m. following a long illness. Dorothy was born on July 3, 1934, in Raytown Mo.
Dorothy met a good ‘ole country boy selling sweet corn out of the back of his car in early 1957 and they were united in marriage on August 31, 1957. They shared 53 blessed years together. They worked side by side at Springfield Optical Service for 19 years and were truly blessed by God in their business.
Dorothy, and family, were long time members of Second Baptist Church in Springfield and in more recent years enjoyed the fellowship at High Street Baptist.
Above all Dorothy loved two things in life: Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family. She was a mighty prayer warrior and believed that all things were possible through Him. Her favorite verse was John 3:16 and she was grateful that God had given His only Son for her. She was a shining example of selflessness and love to all who knew her. Her Irish spunk, her kind heart, and her caring ways will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Elizabeth Donovan; two brothers, Billy and Roy Jr. and her sister, Virginia Riggs.
She is survived by her husband, Kennith Ford; her daughters, Janice, Malinda, Deborah and Kim; her grandchildren, Candace, Daniel and Matthew; her great grandchildren, Natalya and Noah; as well as numerous extended family and loved ones.
Services will be held on Monday, December 27, at Greenlawn North Funeral Home with visitation at 11:30 a.m. and the funeral at 1 p.m. with the burial service immediately following at Greenlawn North Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Victory Mission of Springfield or the Disabled Veterans Association.
