Dorothy Marie McCollum, age 89, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in Springfield, Missouri. Dorothy Marie McCollum, age 89, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in Springfield, Missouri. Dorothy was born August 14, 1931, in Niangua, Missouri, to John Huston Thomas and Mary Hallie Fullington Thomas. Her education included graduation at Central High School, Springfield, Missouri. Dorothy had been an employee of Wal-Mart Stores for 35 years and retired in 2005.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; a son, John Mark Bare; a brother, Paul Thomas; and two sisters, Agnes Tracy and Juanita Gann.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Woolfork, whom she married October 19, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri; a son, Phillip Bare and wife Jean; a son James Bare and wife Joyce; a daughter, Jacqueline Overstreet and husband Daryl; and a son, D.J. McCollum and wife Chris.
Dorothy is also survived by seven grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and eight great-granddaughters.
Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed working in the garden as much as possible. She adored the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Dorothy will be 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The funeral service follows at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with burial afterward in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
