Dorsie Jean Waters 80 of Springfield, MO passed away on Jan 13, 2024 with her family by her side. Dorsie was born in Springfield, MO August 13,1943 to Martha and Bernard Whitworth where she resided most of her life. Dorsie is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, and a sister: Gary Whitworth, Johnny Whitworth and Laura Kinser,  her son, Kenny Whitworth, and her son-in-law Kevin Bolin, who she loved dearly.
She is survived by a Son Jerry Waters of Republic MO, and daughter, Teresa Plumlee and husband David of Ozark MO . Dorsie was blessed with 9 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren.
Dorsie was a very independent single mom throughout her life. She was an extremely hard worker. She retired from Carlisle Transmission (formerly Dayco) where she was a machine operator. She always had such an infectious laugh. Her co-workers always heard her coming from a mile away. She always made sure her family was taken care of. If you called her for anything she was there. She put everyone’s needs before her own even during her last days.
After Dorsie retired she found her love for Orchids. She was a member of the Springfield Orchid Society where she shared her love and knowledge of orchids.
If you knew Dorsie at all you knew she was the best dog mom and grandma. She loved her fur babies like they were her own kids.
Dorsie was a member of West Atlantic Street Baptist Church. She often spoke about her church family who she loved. Joe and Tonya Riley made a huge impact in her life.
There will be a graveside service Thursday Jan 18,2024 at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Springfield, MO.
