Druscilla “Dru” Harris went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2011 at her home in Torrance, CA. Druscilla (Smith) Harris was born on September 1, 1923 to Frank and Sarah Smith in Buffalo, Missouri. She married the love of her life, Dudley Harris on May 31, 1947, and soon after moved to California. Dru loved being a homemaker and mother to her loving sons, Jeff and Steve. She was a dedicated Christian and longtime member of Crenshaw Baptist Church in Torrance, CA. She was active in the “Moms Group” with many events and fund raising. Following the death of her son Steve in 1999, she and her son Jeff founded The Steve Harris Memorial Charity. Dru dedicated many hours to this charity with special events for pediatric cancer patients of Harbor UCLA.
Dru is survived by her son Jeff Harris along with many relatives in California and Missouri. She was a wonderful, devoted Christian and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour before services from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dru’s honor to Crenshaw Baptist Church, 18749 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance, CA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
