Dwain Jaye Hall (08/23/1932-12/10/2020)
Dwain was born in Galesburg, KS to Fred & Leona Hall who precede him in death as well as an infant brother. He was baptized as a child while attending Galesburg Christian Church and attended Christian Church services his entire life. Dwain graduated from Parsons, KS high school with a love in mechanics and industrial drawing.
Dwain joined the United States Navy in April, 1952, and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was in service during the Korean War and flew in Super Connie planes. He had 27 radars and other electronic gear he was in charge of, and tuned HFR radios with a lightbulb to get frequencies needed with no armament provided. He flew just under 4000 hours. Dwain flew out of Barbers Point, Oahu, TH, in 1955. The greatest threat was the Chinese patrols.
The love of his life, Lonva Jean Bowman Hall was always waiting for him to come home, including his final journey home from the hospital. They were married in November, 1952, and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. They had together four children, three little redheads like daddy and one blondie like mother.
After his service in the military Dwain held different jobs in California before returning with the family to be near family in the Kansas/Missouri area. His love for planes began in the service and continued throughout his life. He owned different types of planes from small ones and including twin engine aircraft. He loved to take his family and friends flying and used his planes when he owned his own building business. He was an overhead door representative and loved meeting people as he sold the products.
After retirement they lived at Stockton Lake and enjoyed many years of boating with his children and grandchildren before retiring to Bolivar, Missouri. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting and restoring classic cars such as Kaiser with his son, Darwyn.
Dwain will be missed by: a loving wife Lonva; four children: Darwyn and wife Charlene, Gayle and husband Justice, Roger and wife Van, and Teresa and husband William; 11 grandchildren, and more than 30 great grandchildren; Siblings which include: Alta Mae Merrill, Donnie Lee Hall & wife Norma Jean, Vicky Sue Bohn, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery Galesburg, KS, Saturday, December 19.
