Eddie and LaDawna (Rothermel) was united in marriage on July 13, 1991. To this union, one son, Joshua Adam was born.
Eddie is survived by his wife LaDawna and son Joshua, both of Springfield, Missouri; his mother Shirley Ellingsworth of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister Melania Jones of the State of Florida and his brother Matthew Simmons of Springfield, Missouri.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father Glenn Marvin Simmons.
Some of the characteristics of Eddie that we all loved was that he was a devoted husband and father.
Eddie was kind and generous with his time and talents and he was always willing to help anyone.
He was a gifted artist and always loved to cook and BBQ. He and his food will be missed at the family gatherings.
Eddie always had a smile on his face and he made you feel comfortable and at ease.
He loved exploring and mapping of caves. Many referred to him as “Idea Man” and “Cave Specialist.”
He was past president of “Ozark Highland Grotto.” He was instrumental in the breakthrough to the new entrance at Carrol Cave in Dallas County, Missouri.
Eddie was lover of nature and countless hours of hiking, canoeing and camping was enjoyed together as a family.
One characteristic about Eddie that not many knew, he was afraid of heights!
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri.
Services will begin at 11:00 AM with Brother Darrell Swearingin officiating.
As an expression of your sympathy, memorial contributions in memory of Eddie may be given to LaDawna and Joshua.
