
Frances Bowen Taylor Unruh, age 88, passed away surrounded by her family on January 15, 2023. She was born in north Springfield on June 16, 1934, to Jesse Ward Bowen and Mary Cox Bowen. She attended Fair Grove High School where she met and later married Robert Taylor. They began a career of dairy and beef farming which they shared with their three sons.
After the death of her first husband in 1973, she married Garland Unruh and added four children to the family. She had a tremendous love and support for her family and touched the lives of many friends and acquaintances in a warm and caring way. Frances enjoyed her farm and was a fantastic cook, avid reader, bird watcher, and cultivator of flowers.
For nearly 70 years, she was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church. She had a deep love for God and placed her faith in Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by Robert Taylor, Garland Unruh, her parents, Jesse and Mary Bowen, brother Jack Bowen, sister Susannie Mills, stepdaughter Karen Unruh-Wahner, stepdaughter Susan Unruh and grandson Robert Unruh.
She is survived by her children Rick Taylor, (Twyla) of Arizona, Marvin Taylor, (Gwen) Strafford, Craig Taylor, (Gail) Strafford, Nanette Lowry, (Gale) Kansas, Steve Unruh, Kansas, brother in laws, Fonnie Taylor, Jr., Dick Vedder, sister-in-law, Burna Belle Taylor, 17 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 Friday, January 20. The funeral will be at 10 Saturday morning, January 21; both at Greenlawn North. Internment at Greenlawn Cemetery will follow the service.
