Edward “Lee” Griffin
Edward “Lee” Griffin, 73, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 13 in Providence Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born November, 18 1936, in Springfield, Mo., to William and Lova (Owens) Griffin. Lee was raised on a farm in Buffalo, Mo., and he often reminisced about the time he spent there. He moved to Kansas City as a young man and lived there most of his adult life. He worked in the auto parts field, originally for Atlas Imported Parts and later owning Armourdale Auto Parts. He was a car, motorcycle, and radio enthusiast, even helping form a BMW Motorcycle Club in Kansas City. In addition, he was a liscensed Ham Radio Operator and a member of the Masonic Order in Kansas City. He is survived by six children, Beverly Griffin of Bonner Springs, Kan., Debra Lloyd and husband Herman of Kansas City, Kan., Steve Griffin and wife Teri of Shawnee, Kan., Leasha Griffin of Kansas City, Kan., Douglas Griffin and wife Colleen of Mission, Kan., and Julie Griffin of Lenexa, Kan. He also leaves three brothers, James Griffin and wife Mary, Charles Griffin and wife Hela, Donald Griffin and wife Judy, all of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Sharlet Osterkamp and husband Elwyn, of Niangua, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, fourgreat-grandchildren, as well as many nephews, nieces, and close friends. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brandon Burch and Dustin Antill. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hope Cemetary in Pleasant Hope, Mo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
