Edward Lee Casteel born October 5th, 1952 was called home to Jesus on April 13th, 2021 at the age of 68, surrounded by loved ones in Springfield, Missouri.
Edward, affectionally called Ed or Eddie by most who knew him, was preceded in death by his father Johny Lee Casteel (1966); his brother Lonnie Casteel (2015) and sister Marilyn Casteel (1996). Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Susan Elaine Casteel; mother, Edith Fern Peak; sister, Fern Casteel; brother Ray Casteel; children Karen Converse (Lee Converse), Keith Casteel (Elaine Casteel), Ryan Hodges (Marianne Hodges), and Candace Eddings (Michael Eddings); and grandchildren Michael Eddings III, Mitchell Eddings, Gabriel Converse, Taylor Hodges, Emily Casteel, Hannah Casteel, Addisen Hodges, Kyleigh Casteel, and Myles Eddings and a slew of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
The most important parts of Eddie’s life were his family, which can be seen reflected in the deep love that binds his family together. Eddie is known for helping anyone in need, from watching out for moments to mentor young people to giving an encouraging smile and extra hug when he sensed someone was in need. Eddie was a friend to everyone he met, kind eyes and a gentle spirt were his trademark. He loved everyone and you could not help but be drawn to his slow chuckle and dimpled grin.
He found joy in the simple things in life, such as fishing and a good conversation. He was happy with a rod in one hand and a fish in the other.
One of his nicknames, Pressman (or Eddie Pressman), was earned through his career and love as a printer. Eddie did print work for Assembly of God Gospel Publishing House in Springfield, Missouri before he left to run the Central Bible College printing department, which he did for many years before retiring as a printer from ViaTech Publishing Solutions in 2010.
Eddie’s servant’s heart could be seen in the many ways he was involved in his church and in this relationship with his long-time Pastor, Bishop Eddings. Eddie served with integrity and loyalty on the board of Harvest Ministries for many years, showing Godly wisdom in his actions and decisions. Eddie’s gentle prayers, anointed singing, and loud “Amen” and “That’s right” were staples to every service.
Eddie was a loving husband, devoted father, playful grandpa, and faithful friend. His legacy lives on in each person privileged to have met him.
